This doesn't look like me at all.

Well, it does. It is me. But not the young, boyish me everyone was used to. Not the clean-faced, innocent me he used to smile at and smirk about, because that's what men like him do when thinking of brats like me, and damned if he would challenge the tradition.

The face in the mirror has a scar now. Big scar crossing the left side of the face. Courtesy of one of those big white things with big white teeth that live on this big white ball called Hoth.

Scarred faces make me think of pirates. Of the kind of man he is.

So I look like one of his kind, but he knows me too well to fall for that. He'll know I'm still the naïve kid, only I don't look like one. I look now like the kind of man he would respect, but...

Well, he does respect me, doesn't he? Always did.

Sort of.

But if I'm not the kind of guy he'd see as an equal, and if I don't have the clean looks to catch his attention anymore, why would he even bother to look now?

And for me that makes all the difference.
