Episode 008 - O Rapto de Keiko
(Keiko Kidnapped)

Hiei and the Kouma SwordOn the rooftop of a storehouse at the docks, Hiei uses the red-beaming Jagan - evil eye on the center of his brow -: "Gouki loses the fight. Kurama lets his stupid feelings lead his actions. That's why I can't trust lower spirits." He takes out the Kouma Sword. The narrator explains that the touch of its blade will poison the body, turning people in monsters/demons. Hiei vows to recover the Gaki Ball and the Mirror of Utter Darkness: "When those objects belong to me, I'll be able to manipulate this world any way I want. But first I'm gonna kill Yusuke Urameshi, for crossing my path only to annoy me." Jumping and swinging the Sword, he vanishes in the air.

The school's roof in the morning. Yusuke tells Botan that the wounds he got from fighting Gouki disappeared in four days; he compliments her for her healing abilities. He also asks her why she's wearing the school uniform if she doesn't study there: "If I were seen here in my usual clothes it would be a mess. Don't I look cute?" Yusuke mutters about her vanity under his breath.

Botan comments on how Kurama has changed, becoming another person altogether. Yusuke remembers he has only 3 days to recover the third Treasure, and asks her the name of the last thief. "Hiei," she says. "He's a thug, very cruel, he gets everything he wants."

A surprised Keiko finds Yusuke with strange girl (Botan)Keiko shows up on the roof as well, looking for Yusuke; Botan hides behind Yusuke. "The sensei is furious," warns Keiko. "You're the only one who didn't hand him the homework yet. You irresponsible!" Yusuke replies that he's been busy, and Botan adds that having extracurricular activities isn't easy. Yusuke chides her for appearing before Keiko, but the ferrygirl shrugs it off and takes Keiko's hands in hers: "I can imagine how hard it was for you while Yusuke was asleep. And it's good to be able to talk to you like this, face to face. We have a lot to talk..." Keiko stares at Botan in shock, and Yusuke whacks the ferrygirl's head: "She doesn't know anything about you! Stop blabbering or you'll mess up my situation." Abashed, Botan waves goodbye and leaves.

Keiko asks who that girl was, but Yusuke says it's a long story and someday she'll tell her. Keiko reacts icily, saying she doesn't care at all, neither is interested in his story. She goes back inside, and Yusuke runs after her, trying to explain.

Hiei observes Yusuke's actions with the JaganHiei watches this whole scene from a distant rooftop, using the Jagan. A tiny demon perched on his shoulder tells him that that is Keiko Yukimura, Yusuke's classmate and close friend. Hiei says he'll have lots of fun with her.

Hiei waiting for KeikoKeiko walks back home, brooding about Yusuke and Botan, and passes by Hiei, who's standing on the sidewalk. He calls her by the name, and when she turns, he hits her with a Sword swing.

The Reikai Compass on Yusuke's wrist starts to beep, and he runs out of the class, leaving Takenaka-sensei crying after him: "Wait, I'm not done with you! What a brat!"

As Yusuke runs towards the signal's source, Botan catches up with him. He tells her that the enemy must be five kilometers away. She warns him to be careful, Hiei is dangerous: "And I heard something awful through telepathy. Keiko was kidnapped and will only be freed in exchange for the Treasures."

Yusuke and Botan arrive at the docks and enter one of the storehouses, where they find themselves surrounded by dozens of zombie-like humans. Botan tells Yusuke that those are normal people being manipulated, and only a Jaganshi would be able to control so many people at the same time.

Hiei demands the Treasures for Keiko's lifeHiei appears and confirms her assumption. His Jagan is open, and he carries the shining Kouma Sword. He indicates Keiko, unconscious, being held up by the zombie-like humans. Yusuke gives Hiei the two other Treasures and Keiko is released. "The game loses all the fun if the rules aren't followed," Hiei smirks.

Yusuke and Botan run to check on Keiko. Hiei holds the Gaki Ball and the Mirror of Utter Darkness: "The plan didn't go as expected, but I got what I wanted. Now I can conquer Reikai." But now that Keiko is free, Yusuke doesn't hesitate in challenging Hiei. He runs towards the thief and punches him... but hits only air.

At first Yusuke thinks Hiei has disappeared, but the demon is standing right behind him, and boastfully demonstrates how he can move so fast that he creates the optical illusion of vanishing in a dark blur. Yusuke is impressed.

The opening eye on Keiko's foreheadHiei warns him that he didn't let Keiko go unharmed, and suggests that they take a look at the girl's brow. There's a horizontal cut on its center, opening slowly. Yusuke gasps: "It's not a wound. It's an eye!" Hiei: "She'll be my server, and when the eye is fully open she'll belong to my world."

Botan uses her powers to keep the eye shut. But the force of the Jagan is too much for her; if she keeps fighting it for too long, Botan will certainly die.

POW!Hiei says that the antidote that can save Keiko is inside the handle of the Kouma Sword, and challenges Yusuke to come and get it. Enraged, Yusuke jumps in the air and punches Hiei's face.

The demon can't believe a human can move fast enough to hit him. He runs around Urameshi, trying to confuse him with his quick-moving blurry images; but when he attacks, Yusuke knows exactly where he's coming from and punches him again. Hiei falls hard on the floor, dropping all the three Treasures.

Majin Hiei - screencap made by JacqueYusuke mocks him: "All you can do is run around? Without the Jagan, you're nothing but a cockroach!" Hiei undresses his cloak: "I never thought I'd have to use this tactic against an ordinary human..." To Yusuke's surprise, the demon's skin turns green, and lots of eyes pop up all over his body. The transformation increases the power of the eye opening in Keiko's brow - Botan's hand begins to bleed, and she knows she won't be able to hold up for long now.

Hiei says that soon Keiko will become a demon: "But you don't have to worry about that," he tells Yusuke. "Because you'll already be dead, you stupid brat!" Hiei jumps and socks Yusuke, who has no time to react.

Kurama arrives at the docks, sensing the incredible energy Hiei is emanating.

Yusuke tied up by Hiei's energyIn the storehouse, Yusuke is levitating, paralyzed by reddish energy bonds tying his body. Hiei uses telekinesis to lift Yusuke higher yet, then throws him harshly to the ground. Using the same power, Hiei makes the Kouma Sword fly to his hand: "Feel the discrepancy of power level between us. But I admire you. And for my honor I'm going to kill you." Yusuke closes his eyes when Hiei moves to stab the Sword thorough him... but the blade stops before reaching its goal.

Yusuke sees Hiei stabbing Kurama with the Kouma SwordHe opens his eyes to see that Kurama has stepped in the way, receiving the strike meant to him. The Sword has cut right through Kurama's body, causing a horrible wound. But the redhead grabs the blade and pulls it even deeper in his belly, catching a good handful of blood gushing from the wound and throwing it on Hiei's Jagan.

With the third eye momentarily blinded, Yusuke's bonds disappear. Kurama explains that the multiple eyes work as amplifiers, but the real power is emitted by the one on Hiei's forehead. Yusuke is concerned about the wound, but Kurama dismisses his worry: "I once belonged to Hiei's world. Death won't take me that easily. I'll take care of the girl. I want you to finish Hiei before he recovers the Jagan's sight."

The Jagan is swollen and half-closed; Hiei is enraged. "Kurama, you traitor! I won't forgive you!" But it's Yusuke who answers the challenge, a thin ki aura forming around his body: "You'll have to face me first." Frightened by Urameshi's power, Hiei attacks and hits the Tantei's face. Yusuke tries to hit back, but Hiei dodges, blurring out of the way. For a moment they keep attacking and dodging in a fast hand-to-hand, and none of them gets to hit the other. But at last Hiei manages to punch Yusuke again, and the human boy becomes vulnerable to the subsequent blows. Hiei is still the strongest.

Yusuke fires Reigan against HieiYusuke is thrown against a wall and falls on the ground. When he stands up, he sees something shining behind Hiei. He runs to the side. Hiei thinks he's trying to escape and runs after him. At some point Yusuke stops, turns and fires the Reigan. Hiei is surprised, but manages to dodge again: "You amaze me more and more... Hiding aces in your sleeves, huh?" Yusuke falls on his knees, exhausted.

All of a sudden, a burst of energy hits Hiei hard in the back. Wondering who attacked him, he turns and sees the Mirror of Utter Darkness, now broken, leaning against some boxes. "You calculated the precise angle and hit it, so the reflex would send your blow in my direction," exclaims Hiei, shifting back to his normal aspect. "I don't fight for no reason," smiles Yusuke. "I fight to win." Hiei passes out, muttering against Yusuke's cleverness.

Yusuke gives Keiko the antidote from the Kouma's Sword handle, and the third eye on her brow closes and vanishes. He thanks Kurama and ask if he's all right. "I'm fine. He didn't hit any vital organs."

Botan asks how Yusuke knew that the Mirror would reflect the Reigan, and the Tantei confesses that... he didn't. "He was too fast. I thought that the only way I could get him would be attacking from the rear. Luckily the Mirror slipped and fell right there." He also admits that he had no idea of what he would do if the trick hadn't worked.

Kurama giggles. "I guess cleverness isn't your strong point at all... But then, that's your style, right?" Yusuke isn't very pleased with the comment.

The "light" punishmentThe following morning, on the school's roof. Yusuke: "I caught Gouki and Hiei, and recovered all the Treasures. Koenma must be glad that everything ended well." Botan tells him that King Enma found out about the robbery after all, since the Mirror was broken and the Sword rusted with Kurama's blood. But since the Treasures were recovered, Koenma only got a "light" punishment: a hundred spanks on the butt. Yusuke finds that hilarious.

Keiko shows up, sees the two together and goes away, very angry. Yusuke winces; he forgot to give her any explanation. He runs after her yelling, "It's not what you're thinking!", while Botan muses that dealing with Keiko is probably the hardest of Yusuke's problems.
