057 - A Ameaça de Bui
(Bui's Threat)
Koto comments on Kurama's great victory. Kuwabara, Yusuke and Koenma celebrate, but Hiei is very serious and quiet. Yusuke enters the battlefield: "Are you all right, Kurama?" Still weak, Kurama falls on his knees: "I'm sorry, Yusuke. I only had enough power to kill at that moment. I lost the fight." Juri announces Karasu as the winner of the fight.
Everyone is surprised, including Koto. Yusuke demands an explanation from Juri. "I finished the countdown and Kurama was still down." Yusuke doesn't accept the explanation, but Kurama confirms it. Koto receives the tape of the fight, and it is proved that Kurama never got on his feet and that the Bloodsucker Plant only reached Karasu after the end of the countdown.
Yusuke
is furious, but doesn't argue. Yusuke helps Kurama out of the battlefield,
while the public hoots and whistles. Kuwabara yells at the public. "He's
dead and still the winner?! The most important is survival." Toguro Ani
calls him an ignorant: "What's the use of surviving if your fate is settled?
The gates of Hell are already open to receive you. Remember that the winner
team will receive a prize, and know that my deepest wish is the death
of all of you."
The public applauds. Shizuru whacks the head of a cheering demon nearby; she and the other girls demand that Kazuma do something. George shouts that Yukina is crying. Yukina blinks: "But I'm not crying." George and the girls smirk, "Never mind."
Laying Kurama on the ground against the battlefield, Yusuke screams at the hooting crowd. "I'm gonna reveal my wish," says Hiei. The public falls silent. "I'm gonna take out the lives of the sponsors of this Tournament, so I'll never be invited to this dirty game again." Sakyo grins, remembering what Toguro Otouto did to the sponsors. "I'm sure his wish will become true," laughs Otouto.
Toguro
Ani steps on the battlefield: "Who's gonna be the first victim?" However,
Bui steps in too. Ani, with a mocking tone: "What, you want to go first?
I'm surprised with such a categorical decision." Bui doesn't reply, only
walks towards the center of the battlefield (his every step shakes the
ground). "All right then, Bui," agrees Ani. "Go and show them what death
means."
Seeing Bui's approach, Kuwabara says he'll be the next to fight: "I'll show my courage to Yukina!"
"I'll be praying for you, Kuwabara," says Koenma.
While Kuwabara shakes Koenma by the collar, Hiei speaks to Yusuke: "I intended to fight that bastard with the sun glasses, but in consideration to Genkai, I'll leave him to you." He blurs away and appears standing on the battlefield: "I'll be content with fighting this guy." Seeing Hiei taking the initiative, Koenma says that Hiei is saving Kazuma's skin - and is immediately shaken by the collar once more.
Juri announces the next fight: Hiei versus Bui. The two senshi meet in the center of the battlefield; Hiei's full height (hair included) only reaches Bui's waist.
Bui
forms a gigantic axe in his right hand, a lot bigger than the one he used
in the semifinals against the Gorenja Team (the blade alone is bigger
than Hiei). Hiei is not impressed though. He takes off his cloak, revealing
his right arm covered by tight bandages, held by leather straps with a
ball-bell hanging from the wrist, and a small adhesive ward glued to his
fist.
Kurama
identifies the special bandages as a ward to contain the power within;
he's impressed at how quickly Hiei mastered the Black Flames technique.
At Juri's call, Bui attacks, running in Hiei's direction, jumping and striking with his axe; Hiei blurs away and appears behind him: "You gotta be more serious with your attacks. Or else how am I going to counterattack?"
Bui pulls up the axe, bringing one of the huge blocks of the battlefield's pavement with it and throwing it on Hiei, who dodges easily by jumping out of the blocks' way. Bui keeps yanking more chunks from the pavement with its axe and throwing. Hiei's too fast to be caught, but many people in the audience are killed, smashed by the flying concrete blocks.
The rest of the Toguro Team comments that Bui must be having fun. Sakyo looks forward seeing Hiei using the Black Dragon again.
Annoyed, Hiei opens the Jagan and uses his Ardent Flames to punch and destroy the blocks thrown at him. Focused on the blocks, he fails to notice Bui attacking with the axe right behind one of the blocks. Hiei has no time to react and only stands, bearing his clenched fist surrounded by the Ardent Flames. The axe hits the fist; Hiei isn't hurt or moved, but the axe's handle breaks and the blade is thrown back, missing Juri for a few inches and falling over the public in the upper levels.
Bui
creates a new axe. Again Hiei isn't impressed: "Give up. It's useless,
you're losing your time showing off all those weapons." Bui throws the
axe. Hiei catches it easily by the blade and disintegrates it with his
Ardent Flames.
Everybody gasps, including the rest of the Urameshi Team. Kurama realizes that Hiei's energy is growing more and more, making possible to summon the Black Flames.
Hiei challenges Bui: "I'm not kidding, I mean it! Do you really think you can get me with those iron splinters that don't even bear any energy? Stop stalling and fight!" At last Bui speaks, taking off his armor: "Once I was defeated, and I swore I would only take the armor off to fight again with him."
Hiei snorts: "Aren't you afraid? Taking the armor off you'll receive my strikes right on your face." But Bui isn't worried; he drops his bracelet out of the battlefield, next to the Urameshi Team - it's so heavy that makes a hole in the ground.
Bui crouches down to take off the armor parts covering his legs, and Hiei only watches, arms folded, waiting. In the audience, George comments that Hiei should take advantage of Bui's distraction to attack now. The girls disapprove, saying it would be a coward act, and that Hiei has too much character to do something as low as that. George literally shrinks in embarrassment.
Bui
takes out the helmet and mask, revealing his face: "Usually an armor is
used to protect the body from exterior attacks. But I'm different. I use
it to control the power. It's a terrible power that even I can't hold
back."
Hiei's reply: "Hn."
An enormous greenish-blue ki aura forms around Bui's body, lifting him in the air. Kurama identifies it as a Battle Aura - a really powerful armor - and admits that he never saw one as impressive as Bui's.
Bui
smiles to Hiei: "Fight seriously, you too. You'll have amazing memories
of this." Hiei says he'll accept the advice, then flames on and jumps,
hitting the armor with a punch; the Battle Aura deflects the attack. Then
Hiei sends an Ardent Flames spiral strike; the flames coil around the
Aura and try to burn Bui's body; Bui expands the Aura and frees himself,
attacking on the next moment by throwing a sphere formed by the aura's
energy on Hiei. Perforated by the Ardent Flames, the sphere explodes before
hitting its goal.
Bui's next strike is called Aura Battle Cross - a giant shuriken made of that same greenish-blue energy. Hiei blurs out of its way, but the shuriken follows him wherever he goes, and that gives him an idea. He materializes right behind Bui, smirks, then blurs out again. The shuriken hits Bui hard, and he falls on the ground, causing an explosion that creates a crater on the battlefield.
The Urameshi Team stares expectantly, hoping that the trick has defeated Bui. Koenma: "What an amazing operation... Poison fought back with poison..." Hiei lands on the crater's border, confident, but widens his eyes when the smoke clears; Bui is still standing, unharmed: "I told you to fight seriously! You really thought you could beat me with your despicable plan?" Flaring his Battle Aura again, Bui levitates and lands on the other side of the crater: "I'm running out of patience. If you keep acting like this, I'll kill you before you have the chance to use your Black Flames." Then he rises in the air again.
Hiei:
"If that's what you want, I'll grant you your wish. But you'll regret
it." Ripping the ward on the fist, he starts unbandaging his right arm.
Kurama tells his teammates that Hiei's bandages work like Bui's armor,
keeping an astounding force at bay. By taking them off, he'll be liberating
an endless power. Kurama fears for the girls' safety, because when the
two powers touch, the stadium might collapse.
The bandages are off. For the first time, a tattoo of a black dragon spiraling around Hiei's right arm can be seen. The arm, then Hiei's whole body, is surrounded by the Black Flames: "Now I won't go back. Furthermore, I forgot how to attach the bandages."
