060 - O Ódio Explode:
O Ataque de Kuwabara
(Hate Explodes: Kuwabara Attacks)
Toguro
Ani uses his fingers, still impaling Kuwabara's body, to pin him to the
ground. Juri starts counting. "You won't hear the end of the countdown,"
Ani promises. "Because I'm gonna chop your head off first." He shapeshifts
his left arm into a long sharp blade.
When Juri gets to 9, Ani swings down the blade. But Kuwabara forms a long Reiken that reaches the Experimental Sword lying on the ground, turning it on to cut Ani in seven pieces. Urged by Kuwabara, Juri starts counting again, now for Ani. But the older Toguro brother is already reforming his body.
Keiko
and Botan wonder if there's any way of killing Ani. Suddenly, the Experimental
Sword uses the energy that formed the shield around Kuwabara to change
the blade into a broad circular shape.
"It's impossible to find your vital organs if you keep shapeshifting," admits Kuwabara. "But with this, I don't have to find them." He smashes Ani's whole body with the Sword. Juri checks what is left of Ani and declares Kuwabara the winner.
Kazuma steps down the battlefield and goes back to his teammates. "Way to go, Kuwabara!" Yusuke compliments cheerfully. "Are you alright?" But his smile disappears when he sees his friend's serious demeanor.
Kuwabara
hits him with an angry punch on his face. "Why didn't you tell me about
Genkai? Why was I the only one who didn't know? You thought that if I
knew about her I'd bow out and run away, didn't you? Answer me!"
Kurama tells Kuwabara that Yusuke didn't tell him or Hiei either; they found out on their own. "Genkai-baasan died right before my eyes, Kuwabara," Yusuke murmurs. "I asked Koenma to take her place. It was hard, but we must go on fighting. It feels like a lie. It's like as if she might show up at any moment, and she'd never come back if I said... if I said that she died and accepted her death. I'm sorry. Please forgive me, Kuwabara." He walks towards the battlefield. They have their backs turned to each other when Kuwabara calls him: "Urameshi... win." Yusuke smiles and meets Toguro Otouto on the battlefield.
But
before the long-awaited fight begins, Sakyo asks for Juri's microphone
to make a statement: "I want to place a bet. Naturally I'm betting on
Toguro's victory. And the object of this bet is my life." Everyone gasps.
"The winner of this fight will actually achieve two victories then, summing the five rounds prescribed by the Tournament rules," Sakyo continues. "The combat between Toguro and Urameshi is of great value and importance. I'm the Toguro Team's sponsor but I have no powers to entertain the public. The bet is sealed if the Tournament Management Committee and the other team's sponsor agree."
To the Urameshi Team's surprise, Koenma accepts and bets his life on Yusuke's victory. "I was the one who got you involved in all this," he tells Yusuke. "So I wish to be of some use to you. I'm worried about Sakyo. He has piercing eyes and a dirty past; he's ambitious and selfish. He sees everyone as idiots and is violent even if his life isn't at stake." Koenma expects Yusuke to finish Sakyo games.
Through the speakers comes the announcement that the Committee will have a meeting to decide about Sakyo's proposal. There'll be a ten-minute intermission. The public isn't happy about it.
Shizuru,
in a rather un-shizuruish jolly way, tells the other girls that she'll
look for a bathroom. Just an excuse to follow Sakyo out of the arena.
In a terrace, Toguro asks Sakyo about the Committee meeting. "Aren't they all dead?"
Sakyo tells him it's all a sham to keep the public anxious. "At last the end is near. It was a long journey." He tells his story. "I was born in a poor family, my parents were very simple people. Five children. Objectively speaking, it was the ideal family. All my brothers and sisters are civil servants; I was the only one who took a different path. Probably the flaw was always in my head, it's no one's fault. The only one to be blamed is my own brain.
"I always loved to see blood and viscera: frogs, fishes, dogs, cats... But after three years I was fed up with it and got addicted to games. Day and night, I'm wrapped in the game. I always lived in this dark world. I betted my life four times already. Everyone gave up when they realize I was serious in my bets. Only those with a similar brain accepted the challenge."
"Why
are you telling me this?" asks Toguro.
Sakyo laughs. "Why indeed?" Hidden by the terrace door, Shizuru is listening.
Back to the arena, Toguro tells Sakyo, "I wish I could say 'thank you' for trusting me so much, but I fight only for myself, not for others." He stares at Urameshi. "He must have the same concept." Sakyo says he understands.
A new announcement: Sakyo's proposal was approved. This means that Toguro versus Urameshi is the final round of the Ankoku Bujutsukai.
Toguro
and Yusuke are ready; Juri convokes the beginning of the fight. But a
wild laughter calls everyone's attention. Toguro Ani emerges from the
broken part of the battlefield, his body almost completely reformed. "Urameshi,
you can't defeat my brother. Even Genkai lost to him, remember? She became
younger during their battle and fought bravely, but she lost anyway. And
she was a thousand times stronger than you are.
"The young Genkai's beauty was unmatched. How many times did I think of having her for myself? But what would be the point in it, if she would grow old and die anyway? Urameshi, you witnessed her death, but don't worry. Soon you'll be with her."
Yusuke grits his teeth. So does Toguro Otouto. Kuwabara wants to go up there and finish Ani once for all, but Kurama stops him, guessing what was about to happen on the battlefield. Apparently Yusuke guesses it as well, since he smiles unworried.
"My brother can use me as his weapon," Ani continues, "so what's gonna be? Sword? Spear? Together we're invincible!"
"Out," Otouto tells his older brother. "You're in my way." He kicks Ani, who is sent flying.
Furious, Ani counterattacks: "I won't forgive you! We both sold our souls to become stronger, together!"
With a punch, Otouto butchers Ani's body. Then he looks at the blood covering his fist and replies, "I might have sold my soul, but don't remember having sold my character."
