062 - O Poder Total de Toguro
(Toguro's Total Power)
Toguro Otouto's aura flares up, forming a windblast that hits Yusuke roughly enough to gash his cheek. The tall fighter is clearly disappointed at Yusuke's power level: "I don't need 100% of my power. For you, only 80% will do."
He whole stadium comments on how Toguro managed to survive unscathed to Urameshi's Reigan. Koto even says Urameshi doesn't stand a chance in this combat. George scolds her for such a blunt statement; he suggests that she can't tell for sure if Yusuke doesn't have an ace up his sleeve. "Does he?" Koto asks. George bashfully admits he doesn't know either.
Yusuke smiles and rips off the green straps he had around his wrists; now everyone can see his wrists and ankles fastened by a golden light chain. Toguro recognizes it as the Spiritual Lock, part of Genkai's training.
Yusuke remembers that right before Genkai gave him her powers, she had shackled his wrists together and then his ankles with that energy chain, which were so heavy and strong that Yusuke could hardly stand on his feet. "Idiot!" she had chided him. "Physical strength is useless. You must call forward your spiritual force."
The
boy grimaced but did as she told him, therefore managing to open his arms
and legs, resisting the spring pull of the Spiritual Lock. Genkai told
him he would have to keep the chains on until the moment he would need
to wield the power it locked. A magical word would open the Lock, and
she assured him that he would know the right time to say it.
In the stadium, before Toguro, Yusuke decides this is the right time. "Ante!" he shouts.
The
chains break apart and vanish, and Yusuke's blue aura bursts into the
shape of a giant bird that flies once around the arena before merging
with the boy's body again.
Everyone is excited at the sight and many exclaim that Urameshi's power level now is enough to make him invincible. But Shizuru is still skeptical: "Only if Toguro's remains as it is now."
Toguro seems offended that Yusuke hadn't given all of himself in the last strike that had sent him through the wall. "So you thought you could beat me that easily?"
Answering
to Toguro's challenge, Yusuke runs to attack him at such speed that even
Hiei and Kurama are surprised. The boy hits Toguro with a long series
of fast, strong jabs, knocking the taller man down. Yusuke doesn't stop
though, diving in the air to punch Toguro's stomach hard enough to disintegrate
the ground beneath them. Toguro spits blood. And still Yusuke keeps socking
the fallen fighter's defenseless body.
Urameshi's victory seems imminent... but all of a sudden the boy glimpses something in Toguro's eyes. Yusuke jumps back, out of the crater they had fallen into, halting his attack.
His teammates gasp in astonishment. "Don't stop!" Hiei yells. But Yusuke is still paralyzed by what he found in his adversary's eyes.
Toguro
gets up and steps out of the crater. His strong muscles have shrunk and
his appearance is the one of a markedly thin man with slender, almost
frail-looking limbs. Jin compares him with a balloon gushing air out;
Touya assumes Toguro lost his powers after Yusuke's remarkable attack.
But Kurama is nervous; he says this feels like a strange wind before the
storm; Hiei curses and admits he is feeling a chill down his spine.
"For the first time, a real adversary," Toguro states as his body starts transforming again. "We will fight with dignity. I'll use my 100%."
Dozens of spectators are burnt to aches by Toguro's flaring purple energy. Puu's kekkai protects the girls. Chuu, Rinku, Jin and Touya jump out of the way an instant before all the demons sitting in their section are killed by one of the ki waves.
Toguro's
skin turns gray, his muscles grow horribly, distortedly. The air blacks
out and all that can be seen in the thick darkness is the appalling increasing
deformity of Toguro's flesh. When light returns, Hiei gapes, "Could that
thing have once been human?!"
Kuwabara urges Urameshi to attack Toguro before he achieves 100% of his power, but Yusuke is still frozen in place -- not by fear, but by curiosity. He wants to see Toguro's 100%.
The
transformation is complete. At the sight of Toguro's new appearance, Shizuru
exclaims that no human being will be able to defeat him. The other girls
scold her for her pessimism. Koenma starts regretting the bet with Sakyo.
Toguro snaps his fingers. That is enough to create an air wave strong enough to hit Yusuke's forehead and send him flying several meters back until colliding with part of the battlefield wreckage. Toguro repeats the gesture many times at astounding speed; Yusuke defends himself with his fists, blocking the air blasts, but he has trouble keeping up with Toguro's speed. The wind raises a dust cloud around Yusuke, and Toguro halts the attack.
Urameshi
emerges from the cloud and jumps on his adversary, trying to punch him.
Toguro blocks the sock with his thumb and hits Yusuke back with a jab
on the arm that comes too close to breaking bones. A big ugly purple hematoma
appears in the boy's arm; it hurts terribly. Yusuke prepares the Reigan
and Toguro warns him to put all his energy in that shot.
Yusuke fires. The Reigan dies on Toguro's chest, harmless.
Toguro holds Yusuke by the collar and raises him in the air. "I'm going to tell you something very important. There's something missing in you, the notion of danger. Haven't you accepted death yet?" Toguro's punch throws Yusuke over the spectators and against the wall in the far back. The boy falls on his knees, and on his face. He tries to get up, but he's too bruised and worn out.
