Dear Severus,
Thank you so much for the Wolfsbane Potion, I'm most appreciative of your generosity in preparing it for me. There's no need to be preoccupied. I'll be extremely careful with the flask, as to me its content is worth more than liquid gold.
I'm glad you're enjoying the holidays. I'm sure the students, wherever they are, are having a good time too, due to the absence of teachers.
My wits are all here and doing well, at least they were last time I counted them. Just a little anxious with all this waiting in the dark. But of course, under these circumstances, no news is probably good news.
My lodger also expresses his thanks, he was deeply moved by your concern for his safety. In fact, he expressed himself with many, many words, but it'd take too long to write them down, so I'm paraphrasing a little: he was sincerely, profoundly touched to learn that you keep him in your thoughts.
My authority over him is the same as it was before.
His skull is also just as thick as it was before.
And you, my friend, haven't changed much either.
"Lie low" is indeed a simple enough concept, we're not having trouble with that. Hopefully we'll be soon moving to more complex ones, like for example, "lack of open hostility". Your help in this matter would be tremendously appreciated.
Oh, and thanks for settling this age-old dispute between me and my friends. Still when we were in school, Peter had suggested you were a catperson, and I assured him that you were in fact a very-reluctant-to-admit dogperson. We had a bet running and I'll be so pleased to collect my winnings and brag about it next time I see him. After all, there aren't many interesting things we, the canines, can do to him now that we promised Harry not to kill him.
(Just for the record, James bet on newtperson, and Sirius on cockroachperson. Naïve, weren't they?)
I daresay you are able to shift for yourself too, but please be careful. We need your wits and your strength just as badly.

Harry Potter and its characters belong to J.K.Rowling, Bloomsbury, Warner Bros and Merlin-knows-whom-else. I'm just having some fun while patiently waiting for the fifth book.
