The Couple: M & H

Hi, I recently had come across your website Mukuro's Realms. I must say that I am very glad someone had done a website on her because she is my favourite female character in Yu Yu Hakusho too and I think her relationship with Hiei is very interesting too.

The reason I am writing you this email is to share my thoughts on these characters. I know there are many people who believe that Hiei and Kurama should be a couple, but I personally think Mukuro and Hiei are a much better match and I think the writer in both manga and anime had intended to be like that too.

I think the manga is more obvious that they are a pair thought. In the manga, when Hiei asked Kurama for some 'evil plant seed', Kurama asked him what it was for and he replied 'for some pointless thing'. Based on Hiei's personally, he doesn't do nice things for other people unless that person means something to him. You can tell by the way he treats Yukina. So for Hiei to go through all the trouble just to make someone else happy, the purpose is not pointless.

In the anime, instead of Hiei founding the slave master to please Mukuro, the producers used the fight in the tournament. Of course I think they still want to achieve the same idea of Hiei freeing Mukuro from her horrible past by breaking her shackles. It's not clear to me if he had intended to do that, but what he said to her show signs that he cares. And in the end, when Hiei fell and Mukuro caught him, it does look like they are embracing and the background music suggests that too.

The biggest reason why they are intended to be a pair like most people had said is that fact that Hiei stayed in Makai. If he really likes Kurama, he could follow Kurama. And it might be true Hiei would rather stay in Makai than the human world, but he doesn't have to stay by Mukuro's side. In the anime, Mukuro did say to him that he can go back and he said that is his business and put his feet on the table, showing that he chose to stay.

I also don't think the age difference between them is a fact, after all, they live for hundreds of years, does it matter? I don't see Hiei would treat Mukuro like sister, there is a difference in treatment between her and Yukina. He seems to protect Yukina and with Mukuro, he understood her and tried to make her happy. If you put the age thing with other so-called couple, I think Yukina probably is much older than Kuwabara, but that doesn't seem to matter.

I really think they are a pair even thought it's not as obvious as Yusuke and Keiko, but the idea is there. I thank you for listening to my comments and appreciate any comments you might have.
